Estes Park is the ultimate getaway for those who are tired of the city life and desire to have a solitary, yet homey experience all within a couple of hours from Denver.

If you are deciding to go there or you have never been. May I give you a few suggestions that are a must when making this once in a lifetime visit.

The Stanley Hotel

There are a few attractions that make this touristy town unique. First, would be The Stanley Hotel. The claim to fame from the movie, “The Shining” starring Jack Nicolson.

The second unique aspect would be when elk come raiding through town only certain times of the year. It’s quite amazing and you can see a portion of this documented from BBC’s Human Planet.

Main Street

Another wonderful aspect of this homey little town would be strolling up and down Main St. with all kinds of gift shops and stores and restaurants. My favorite was the ice cream store that has every flavor from chocolate to blueberry cheesecake and make sure it comes with a waffle cone. Make sure to check out all of it. You don’t want to miss out.

Now you can always spend your time and money towards places such as Vail or Aspen, but you can’t forget the hidden gems that Colorado can offer you. Make sure to pay a generous visit to Estes Park; in return, will pay you generous memories and a desired return visit.

Twin Owl Steakhouse

If you are in the mood to eat something amazing while in Estes Park, look no further, pay a visit to Twin Owls Steakhouse.

Be sure to take a deep look at their menu on their website. Make sure to try out the Appetizer Tour to start, then moving on to the entrées, the Twin Owl 4x4 and the Pork Loin Chop. You, of course, have other deluxe choices such as the Colorado Elk Medallions, The Lobster Tail Dinner, or the Buffalo Sirloin. This will be an experience you will never forget.

Would love to visit. The Stanley Hotel would be #1 on my list since I did enjoy reading "The Shining" years ago. Thanks for the escape. Bookmarked, voted up, and everything else.
